Taiwan June 2024: Tesla delivers best result in 1.5 years
The Tesla Model Y ends the month at #2 in Taiwan.
41,587 new light vehicles found a buyer in Taiwan in June, a -1.9% year-on-year decline. This leads to a H1 2024 tally off -1% to 232,503. Toyota (+3.4%) defies the negative market to easily keep the lead with a 23.3% share. The performer of the month is Tesla surging 69.8% year-on-year to 2nd place overall with 9.4% share, its best result in the country since it hit #2 with over 4,000 sales and 9.7% in December 2022. Lexus (-12.5%) underperforms at #3 followed by a stable Mercedes (-0.1%). MG (+49.5%) and BMW (+9.4%) impress below.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-7.6%) holds onto the top spot, however with a relatively weak 5.5% share. Just below is the Tesla Model Y (+84.3%), also its best performance since December 2022. The Toyota RAV4 (+1.6%) stays in third position ahead of the Toyota Town Ace (+52.9%) and a surging Tesla Model 3 (+5500%). The new Toyota Yaris Cross drops two spots on last month to #6 and is followed by the Lexus NX (-16.7%) and Honda CR-V (-66.9%) both struggling. The MG HS (-7.8%) also retrogrades to #9 just as the Luxgen n7 rounds out the Top 10 with 2.5% share. The Lexus LBX advances 8 ranks to #42.
