Saudi Arabia H1 2024: MG (+102%), Suzuki (+88.5%) highlight market up 6.3%
Suzuki Swift Dzire sales are up 57.1% year-on-year.
New car sales progress by 6.3% or almost 22,000 units year-on-year over the First Half of 2024 to 367,178. Toyota (-2.6%) can’t catch up with the market gain and slides from 30.7% to 28.1% share. In contrast the next five carmakers all beat the market: Hyundai (+13.5%) is up to 15.6% share, Kia (+36.1%) up to 7.7% and Nissan (+14.5%) up to 6%. Ford (+14.4%) advances to 5.1% while Suzuki (+88.5%) is the most dynamic of all at #6. MG (+102%) does even better and leaps up four spots to #8, making it three Chinese brands in the Top 10 alongside Changan (-7.1%) at #9 and Geely (+3.7%) at #10.
The Toyota Yaris Sedan (+15%) is the best-seller over the period at 5.5% share, but Toyota Camry sales are split between the ICE (#3, -28.2%) and HEV variants (#10, +156.8%) and would be #1 if combined. The Hyundai Accent (+35.1%) lodges a fantastic result at #2. The Toyota Hilux (-1.4%) and Hyundai Elantra (-19.5%) round out the Top 5. The Suzuki Swift Dzire (+57.1%) is up seven spots year-on-year to #5 while the Kia Pegas (+36.3%) is up four to #7.
