Netherlands June 2024: Tesla manages 1-2 with Model Y and Model 3
Tesla Model 3 sales are up 145% year-on-year over H1 2024.
The Dutch new car market disappoints in June at -11.9% year-on-year to 35,386 sales. This means the H1 2024 volume is now off -3.5% to 193,617. Tesla (+27.8%) defies the negative market and soars to 9.8% share in pole position for its fist win since March 2023. It is followed by the year-to-date leader, Kia (-4.5%) at 8.8%. Volvo (+156.1%) is up spectacularly in third place and ranks #2 year-to-date vs. #10 over the Full Year 2023. Toyota (+14.8%) also impresses at #4 while BMW (-0.9%) is stable at #5 with 6.4% share vs. 5.6% YTD. Volkswagen (-56.9%) continues to implode, it ranks #7 over H1 vs. #1 over the Full Year 2023. Suzuki (+17.3%), Mercedes (+16.1%) and Ford (+7%) are solid below.
Over in the models ranking, like last March Tesla manages a 1-2 with the Model Y (-0.6%) in the lead with 5% share ahead of the Model 3 (+93.5%) at 4.7%. Note the Model 3 now ranks #5 halfway through the year vs. #11 over the Full Year 2023. The new Volvo EX30 stays at #3 with 3.3% share. It distances last month’s leader the Kia Niro (+126.6%) ranking #2 over H1 vs. #5 over FY2023. The Volvo XC40/EX40 (+16.8%), Toyota Yaris Cross (+37.4%), Toyota Aygo X (+16%) and Ford Focus (+112.4%) also shine further down.
