Brazil June 2024: HB20 pushes Hyundai up 55.5%, VW Polo #1 over H1

The Hyundai HB20 signs its 4th ever monthly win in Brazil.

202,474 new light vehicles found a buyer in Brazil in June, a fantastic 12.7% year-on-year improvement. The H1 2024 volume is up 15.3% to 1,077,080. This is the first time since 2021 that the H1 tally is above the 1 million mark. Fiat (-9.4%) goes against the positive market, enduring a harsh year-on-year loss but remaining by far the most popular manufacturer in the country with 19% share. Volkswagen (+0.2%) also underperforms as does Chevrolet (+5.6%), the two brands still managing upticks. Hyundai (+55.5%) soars to 9.6% share vs. 8.2% halfway through the year, it is followed by Toyota (+13.1%) and Jeep (+3.1%). BYD (+1110%) lodges a 7th consecutive month at a record 10th place with Ram (+356.8%), GWM (+183%), Ford (+95.3%) and Caoa Chery (+78.7%) also posting surreal lifts.

Over in the models charts, the Hyundai HB20 (+52%) records its fourth ever monthly win after September 2021, October 2022 and November 2022. The VW Polo (-2.7%) stays at #2 but takes advantage of a weak score by the Fiat Strada (-16.2%) to snap the H1 2024 lead. The Chevrolet Onix (+7.2%) repeats at #3, while the Fiat Argo (+10%) and Chevrolet Onix Plus (+1.9%) are both up but trail the market. The VW Nivus (+42.9%), Hyundai Creta (+27.4%) and Chevrolet Tracker (+19.4%) also shine below.
