The Saudi new vehicle market climbs up a stellar 21.9% year-on-year in 2023 to 776,302 units. This is the best annual result in eight years: since the 879,704 units of 2015. Toyota (+15.7%) trails the market to 29.5% share vs. 31.1% a year ago but the next 5 carmakers outpace the overall growth rate. Ford (+79.3%) is the most dynamic – and up five spots on last year to #6 – followed by Kia (+58.8%), Hyundai (+36%), Isuzu (+35.4%) and Nissan (+30.4%). Changan (-12.3%) is the only Top 10 member to lose volume year-on-year and drops three ranks to #7, a surprising result in an era where Chinese carmakers keep improving year after year. In the same sense, MG (-47.8%) is devastated this year and falls from #7 to #12. Geely (+27.9%) for its part gains one spot on 2022 to #8 just as Suzuki (+138.4%) delivers the largest gain in the Top 18 at #10.

The Toyota Yaris Sedan (+36.7%) accesses the models top spot with 5.2% share, however Camry sales are now split between ICE and HEV variants and the nameplate would still be #1 with 5.8% share when combined. The Hyundai Accent (+75.3%), Toyota Hilux (+1.6%) and Hyundai Elantra (+10.1%) round out the Top 5. The Isuzu D-Max (+43.9%) posts a splendid gain but drops one rank to #6. The Ford Taurus (+33.3%) ranks #9 while the Suzuki Swift Dzire (+97%) doubles its sales year-on-year and soars 9 spots on 2022 to #10. Notice also the Kia Pegas at #12 (+18), the Ford Territory at #15 (+48) and the Geely Emgrand at #21 (+7) all in clear progress.
