It’s another difficult year for the Oman new vehicle market at -9.8% year-on-year to 58,414 sales. Brand leader Toyota (-5.8%) falls slower than the market to improve its share from 47% to an even more suffocating 49.1%. All other manufacturers are below 10%. MG (+9.1%) stuns and gains one spot on last year to end 2023 in 2nd place overall, a record anywhere in the world. Hyundai (+9.2%) is up at #3, followed by Kia (+14.8%) and Lexus (+13.5%) also in great shape. Changan (+89.4%) climbs up two ranks on 2022 to #7, with Mazda (+28%) and Suzuki (+13.7%) shining in the remainder of the Top 10. Nissan (-87.6%) implodes from #2 to #12. Below, Geely (+14133.3%) surges to #15 for its first full year of sales.
Model-wise, Toyota monopolises the Top 6. The Hilux repeats at #1 but drops -29.5% to a still sturdy 10% share, and is followed by the Land Cruiser (-16.4%) to 9.4%. The Land Cruiser Pickup (-2.3%) rounds out the podium, up one rank on last year. The Prado (+165.3%) surges 15 spots to #4 ahead of the Hiace and Fortuner. The MG 5 is the best of the rest at #7 with the Toyota Camry, Corolla and Lexus LX closing the Top 10.
