Iraq Full Year 2023: Toyota topples Kia, MG up 140.5%

The Iraqi new light vehicle market surges 32.9% year-on-year in 2023 to 125,758 sales. There’s a big event atop the brands charts: Toyota (+30.9%) topples long-standing leader Kia (+15.3%) to snap the pole position. The two carmakers account for a combined 54.4% of the market this year. Hyundai (+34.4%) improves its share to 11.8% while MG (+140.5%) is up spectacularly from 5.5% to 10% share but stays in 4th place. GWM (+147.3%) and GMC (+97.8%) soar in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Kia Frontier stays on top but sees its share thaw from 18.9% last year to 11.4%. It distances the Toyota Hilux, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Corolla. The MG 5 (+259.6%) leaps up 8 spots on 2022 to land at a splendid 5th place with 5.9% share vs. 2.2% in 2022. The Kia Sorento is down one spot to #6 while the Kia Sportage is up one to #7. The Toyota Land Cruiser, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon close out the Top 10.
