United Arab Emirates April 2024: Nissan Patrol takes the lead in negative market
The Nissan Patrol is the best-selling nameplate in the UAE in April.
New vehicle sales in the UAE drop -13% year-on-year in April to 19,994 units. Meanwhile the year-to-date volume is up 12% to 94,208. Toyota (-22.5%) falls much faster than the market but easily retains the brands top spot at 26% share vs. 25% so far this year. Nissan (-10.7%) is soft at 15% vs. 16.6% but Mitsubishi (+14.2%) defies the negative market with a solid gain at #3. In fact the next four manufacturers impress with double-digit year-on-year gains. Ford (+64.9%) is the most dynamic followed by Land Rover (+37.3%), MG (+17.1%) and Suzuki (+11.4%). Below, Geely (+345.5%) stands out while Tesla ranks #12.
Model-wise, the Nissan Patrol (+2%) takes the lead with 5.8% share, distancing three freefalling nameplates: the Toyota Hilux (-29.1%), Land Cruiser Wagon (-33.5%) and Nissan Sunny (-46.9%). The Sunny however stays #1 year-to-date. Strong showings by the Toyota Fortuner (+26.1%), Toyota Yaris Sedan (+9.9%) and Nissan X-Trail (+7%) while the Mitsubishi Outlander (+84.5%) and Land Rover Defender (+78%) manage the largest gains in the Top 10.
