New Caledonia (France) Q1 2024: Dacia (+55.7%), Suzuki (+52.1%) impress in negative market

The New Caledonian new car market drops -10.6% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2024 to 1,582 sales. Toyota (-15.5%) easily keeps the brands top spot, selling twice as much as #2 Suzuki (+52.1%) in excellent shape. Renault (+47.4%), Dacia (+55.7%) and Hyundai (+11%) also defy the negative market to round out the Top 5. Citroen (+1.1%) is the only remaining Top 10 brand in positive just as Peugeot (-31.4%), Kia (-20.4%), Nissan (-15.3%) and Ford (-11.8%) all underperform.
The Toyota Hilux (+73.5%) is the most popular vehicle over the period as it was over the Full Year 2023. It holds 9.1% of the market vs 5.1% for the Suzuki Swift (+200%) in 2nd place. The Dacia Duster (+32.7%) is up to #3 ahead of the Dacia Sandero (+226.7%) and Citroen Berlingo (+115.8%). Other great performers below include the Ford Puma (+675%) and Suzuki Jimny (+28%).
