Czechia March 2024: Dacia (+3%), Toyota (+2.8%) defy falling market

Toyota RAV4 sales soar 121.3% year-on-year in March.

18,916 new cars hit Czechia roads in March, a steep -15.5% year-on-year fall. However thanks to a strong start of the year the Q1 tally is up 2.2% to 57,605 units. Home behemoth Skoda (-29.9%) doubles the market drop to 30.5% share vs. 35.7% over the first three months of the year. Hyundai (-6.2%) resists at #2 while Toyota (+2.8%) and Dacia (+3%) go against the declining market albeit with timid lifts. Volkswagen (-28.3%), Kia (-24.6%) and Mercedes (-19.2%) disappoint. Below, Volvo (+107.5%), Renault (+16%) and Peugeot (+8.7%) impress.

The Skoda Octavia (-26.9%) easily tops the models charts despite a daunting year-on-year fall. It holds a 9.4% share vs. 11% year-to-date. The Skoda Scala (-0.2%) is up three spots on last month to #2 and now ranks #3 YTD. It distances a surging Hyundai i30 (+21%) and freefalling Skoda Karoq (-25.8%), Kodiaq (-26.7%) and Fabia (-41.8%). However the Fabia is now up to #2 year-to-date thanks to a horrendous result for the Skoda Kamiq (-50.2%). The Dacia Duster (+23.4%) is the only additional Top 10 vehicle in positive.
