Colombia March 2024: Toyota Corolla Cross repeats at #1, now also #1 YTD in depleted market
The Toyota Corolla Cross is now #1 year-to-date in Colombia.
Holy week celebrations hit the Colombian new car market further in March at -22.6% year-on-year to 13,361 sales. Keep in mind March 2023 was already off -17.2% on the year prior. The Q1 volume is off -14.4% to 40,567. Toyota (-10.5%) resists much better than the market to hold onto the brands pole position with a dominant 16.1% share. Leader last year, Renault (-40.2%) crumbles down to 12.4% share. Chevrolet (-28.7%) is back up to its traditional third place while Mazda (+1.7%) and most strikingly Nissan (+46.9%) defy the plunging market to close out the Top 5. Up to #3 last month, Kia (-25.9%) recedes to #6 in March ahead of an imploding Suzuki (-47.8%). Ford (+20.2%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10.
Over in the models lane, the Toyota Corolla Cross (+60.2%) repeats at #1 and now also holds this spot year-to-date. It ranked #2 over the Full Year 2023. The Mazda CX-30 (+169.8%) surges ahead to climb to #2, a ranking it also holds over Q1. The Renault Duster (-29.8%) is in difficulty at #3 and ranks #4 YTD vs. #1 over the FY2023. #1 a year ago, the Toyota Hilux (-55.6%) freefalls to #4, which is still higher than both its YTD level (#4) and FY2023 position (#7). The Chevrolet Joy is up nine spots on February to #5, distancing the Renault Kwid (-41.2%). The Ford Escape (+252.5%) and Nissan Kicks (+108.6%) both sport fantastic lifts in the remainder of the Top 10.
