Mexico February 2024: Kia K3 up to #2 in highest February in 7 years

The Kia K3 is only outsold by the Nissan Versa in Mexico in February.

The Mexican new light vehicle market is up 11.1% year-on-year in February to 113,258 units. This is the largest February volume in 7 years, since February 2017 (117,985). The year-to-date tally is up 14.8% to 225,357. Brand leader Nissan (-5.6%) goes against the positive market but easily keeps the lead with 16.2% share, followed by Chevrolet (+20.4%) at 13.3%. Volkswagen (+22%) follows in third place above Toyota (+31.9%), Kia (+10.3%) and Mazda (+19%), ensuring the Top 6 remains unchanged on January and FY2023. Ford (+35.1%) and Suzuki (+28.5%) both lodge market beating results in the remainder of the Top 10. Chinese Jaecoo, a brand by Chery (aka Chirey in Mexico) makes its first appearance in the charts with 59 sales.

Over in the models ranking, the Nissan Versa (+14.2%) tightens its grip at 6.2% share. The new Kia K3 advances a further two spots to a record 2nd place, overtaking the Chevrolet Aveo (-10.1%) and Nissan NP300 (-31.6%). The MG 5 (+4.1%) stays in 5th place above the VW Virtus (+16.8%) up to a record #6. The Chevrolet S10 Max (+81%) breaks into the Top 10 for the very first time at #8 with the Nissan Kicks (+26.4%) at its highest since December 2022. Notice also the Mazda CX-30 (+354.4%) skyrocketing to #11.
