Uruguay January 2024: Fiat up 7-fold to 19.1% share

Fiat is by far the best-selling manufacturer in Uruguay in January.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay gain 6.8% year-on-year in January to 4,037 units. Fiat (+643.3%) is up a surreal 7-fold on a year ago to lead the brands charts with 19.1% share, its best since March 2022 (27%). That is almost double its FY2023 share of 10.9%. In contrast Chevrolet (-12.5%) and Volkswagen (-14%) are in a deep rut. Hyundai (+41%) is very strong at #4, ahead of three troubled manufacturers: Suzuki (-52.4%), Renault (-18.6%) and Peugeot (-8.7%). Toyota (+39.4%) and Nissan (+172.3%) shine in the remainder of the Top 10. BYD (+30.4%), Chery (+50.9%), Dongfeng (+213.6%) and Jetour (-21.5%) are the best-selling Chinese brands this month.
