Puerto Rico (USA) Full Year 2023: Toyota RAV4 reclaims top spot, Hyundai Venue up to #3

The Puerto Rican new car market is up 4% year-on-year in 2023 to 128,530 units, believed to be the 2nd largest annual volume in history below the 129,147 sales of 2021. Toyota (-11.9%) goes against the market and sees its share drop from 29.2% last year to 24.8% now. It remains ultra dominant though. Hyundai (+10.7%) improves from 15.9% to 17% share while Kia (+38.6%) delivers the largest gain in the Top 10 and climbs up two spots to #3. Ford is estimated to grow just 1.1%, down one spot to #4 while Mitsubishi is at +4.3% to 8.3% share, unchanged on 2022. Nissan (+23%) is also in great shape, strengthening its share from 6.5% to 7.7% while Ram is up 19.3% to #9.

Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+18.6%) reclaims the top spot for the first time since 2019, toppling the Toyota Corolla (-20.3%). The performer of the year is the Hyundai Venue (+125.4%) leaping onto the podium at #3. The Hyundai Tucson (+54.5%) is also in outstanding shape at #4 vs. #8 in 2022. The Toyota Corolla Cross (+21.3%) continues to progress to #5, overtaking the Kia Seltos (+9.5%). The Toyota Tacoma (-34.6%) endures the harshest loss in the Top 25, with the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (+24.6%), Outlander (+17.2%) and Hyundai Elantra (+133.3%) rounding out the Top 10.
