The Slovenian new car market rises 5.6% year-on-year in 2023 to 48,923 units. The top 3 brands are unchanged on 2022: Volkswagen (-1.1%) leads the way but drops one percentage point to 14.9% share. Skoda (+16.4%) is up to 10.9% of the market while Renault (+14.7%) is at 9.5%. Toyota (+12.7%) continues to progress, gaining one spot to #4. In fact, Kia (-12.9%) and Peugeot (-2.5%) are also up one rank to #5 and #6 respectively despite falling faster than the market. They take advantage of Hyundai’s freefall (-27.2%). Dacia (+7.8%) advances to #8 with Audi (+30.8%) up three spots to #10. MG (+1412.7%), Tesla (+264.9%) and Cupra (+48.9%) impress below.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+20.6%) repeats at #1 with an improved 3.5% share. This has come after 25 years of Renault Clio domination up to 2021. Talking about the Clio (+5.7%), it is up one spot on last year to #2, while the Renault Captur (+10.2%) is up three to #3. The VW T-Roc (-11.6%) struggles and falls two ranks to #4. The next three models all vastly outpace the market: the Tesla Model Y (+298.8%) is up no less than 50 spots on 2022 to #7 and topped the charts outright in March. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+27.6%) was #1 in December and the Skoda Kamiq (+26.3%) is up 9 ranks to #6.
