Russia October 2023: Jetour and Geely Monjaro in Top 10
The Geely Monjaro is up to #9 in Russia in October.
Our source for Russian car sales has changed this month to PPK JSC, which explains some inconsistencies with previous posts and data. Brands with previously unavailable monthly data such as Chery, Exeed, Changan, Omoda and Geely are now available.
New car sales in Russia climb 159.2% year-on-year in October to 112,238 units, this is however down -11.1% on October 2021. The year-to-date tally is up 60.1% year-on-year but down -36.4% on 2021 to 829,548. Lada (+101.4%) keep its stranglehold on its home market with 30.7% share. It is followed by no less than six Chinese brands, with 7 Chinese carmakers in the Top 10. Haval (+189.7%) takes 2nd place with 11.4% share ahead of Chery (+182.9%) at 9.7% and Geely (+317.2%) at 9.2%. The four aforementioned brands account for 61% of the Russian market this month. Changan (+2802.7%) posts an extravagant year-on-year lift on low year-ago volumes. Newcomers Omoda (#6) and Jetour (#10) shine, with Exeed (+280%) at #7 and Toyota (+99.4%) at #9. Note GAZ and UAZ are not included in this ranking.
The Lada Granta (+68.5%) remains by far the most popular vehicle in the country but trails the market growth for a 16.5% share vs. 19.8% so far this year. The Lada Vesta (+438.7%) is back to #2 now that production has well and truly restarted with the Haval Jolion (+105.6%) in tow. For the first time we have access to a split between the old (Niva Legend) and new (Niva Travel) versions of the Lada Niva. The Travel (+105.2%) ranks 4th and the Legend (+119.6%) is 5th. There are no less than three recent launches in the October Top 10: the Omoda C5 at #6, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max at #8 and the Geely Monjaro at #9.
