Taiwan August 2023: 4 Toyotas in Top 4, MG HS breaks ranking record again

The MG HS is up to #5 in Taiwan in July.

The Taiwanese new light vehicle market edges up 2.9% year-on-year in August to 35,421 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 13.4% to 312,637. Toyota (+8.5%) remains by far the most successful brand in the country with 27.9% share. Honda (+5.3%) rallies back up five spots on July to #2 while Ford (-5.4%) stays in 3rd place. Lexus (+60%) continues to soar year-on-year but falls two ranks on last month to #4. Hyundai (+34%) rounds out the Top 5 while Volvo (+51.1%) makes a rare entry inside the Top 10 at #8.

Over in the models aisle, Toyota monopolises the Top 4 again. The Corolla Cross (-4.3%) stays ultra dominant at 8.7% share vs. 7.8% so far this year. It is followed by the RAV4 (+137%), Town Ace (+74.9%) and Corolla Altis (-9.5%). The new MG HS breaks its monthly ranking record at #5, the Honda CR-V (+12.9%) is back up to #6 with the Ford Focus (+11.3%) and CMC Veryca (-14.3%) in tow. Spectacular score by the Toyota Vios (+95.6%) doubling its YTD level of 1.2% share. The Lexus NX (+158.6%) does even better at #10 but drops 5 ranks on July to #10.
