The Greek new car market is up another 19.8% year-on-year in August to 10,368 sales, marking a 7th double-digit year-on-year gain for the year. This is a particularly strong performance given August 2022 was already up 39.7% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally is now up 25.3% to 93,110. Toyota (+19%) stays on top of the brands ranking with 15.2% share vs. 13% year-to-date, while Fiat (+541.5%) lodges an extravagant gain to rank #2 with 12.1% vs. #9 with 4.6% so far this year. A weak Peugeot (+9.3%) follows while Hyundai (+42.3%) and Citroen (+77.4%) both surge. Opel (-8.5%) is in difficulty but soars 79% year-to-date, with Kia (+109.8%), Audi (+83.7%) and Suzuki (+33.7%) all shining in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models lane, the Fiat Panda (+589.9%) repeats at #1 with an extravagant year-on-year lift and hits 8.6% share vs. 6.4% last month and 2.5% year-to-date. Sales to rental companies are likely behind this sudden performance. The Toyota Yaris (+28.6%) stays in 2nd place above the Suzuki Vitara (+66.4%), Peugeot 208 (+38.9%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+45%). The Fiat 500 (+1288%) also impress at #6 with 3.3% share vs. #19 and 1.6% so far this year.
