Denmark August 2023: Tesla Model Y dominant in market up 6%

Tesla is the most popular carmaker in Denmark in August.

13,517 new cars hit Danish roads in August, a 6% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date volume is now up 13.5% to 109,076. Tesla (+780.4%) posts a surreal year-on-year gain to return to the top spot it holds year-to-date with 10.3% share. Volkswagen (-33%) is relegated to 2nd place above a surging Peugeot (+49.8%) and a freefalling Toyota (-18.4%). Audi (+32.6%), Skoda (+9.5%) and BMW (+6.1%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Mercedes (-33.5%), Hyundai (-19.6%) and Ford (-11.5%) all underperform. Below, Opel (+88.2%) scores a rare and robust uptick as do Cupra (+213.1%) and Polestar (+574.4%).

The Tesla Model Y (+1405.9%!) is up 15-fold year-on-year to dominate the models charts head and shoulders with 7.6% share. Leader in 2022, the Peugeot 208 (+44.4%) is also in great shape at #2 for the month. The Opel Corsa (+353%), Tesla Model 3 (+302.2%) and Skoda Enyaq (+26.4%) also impress unlike the Ford Kuga (-32.5%). The Audi Q4 (+134.8%) and Peugeot 2008 (+312.5%) shine below while the Polestar 2 (+574.4%) misses out on a Top 10 finish by just one single sale.
