Argentina August 2023: Ford Ranger up to record #2
Ford Ranger sales more than double year-on-year in August.
New light vehicle sales in Argentina gain 2.1% year-on-year in August to 36,614 units. That means the year-to-date volume is now up 12.4% to 301,468. Toyota (+11%) and Renault (+10.7%) are in good shape atop the brands ranking, whereas Fiat (-5.2%) and Volkswagen (-10.8%) are both a little tired. Mercedes (+50.8%), Ford (+38.2%) and Chevrolet (+37.7%) sign the largest upticks inside the Top 10, with Nissan (+22.9%) also very solid. In contrast Citroen (-66.5%) and Peugeot (-18.8%) both freefall.
Model-wise, the Fiat Cronos (+30.8%) continues to dominate at 11.4% share vs. 7.7% for the #2, the Ford Ranger delivering a superb result at +105.3% year-on-year. This is an all-time ranking record for the Ranger. It beats its competitors the Toyota Hilux (#3 at +32.5%) and VW Amarok (#5 at +31%). The Peugeot 208 (-9.2%) skids to 4th place vs. #2 year-to-date. The Chevrolet Tracker (+332%), Toyota Etios (+43.2%) and VW Taos (+13.9%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. For the Taos it is the 2nd consecutive – and ever – Top 10 finish The Chevrolet Montana is the best-selling recent launch at #43.
