Slovakia July 2023: Skoda Scala (+179.5%), Kamiq (+75.9%) impress in surging market.
Skoda places five models in the Top 8.
The Slovak new car market rallies back up 28.6% year-on-year in July to 8,001 sales, meaning the year-to-date volume is now up 15.8% to 53,458. Skoda (+36.8%) outpaces the surging market to 19.4% share while Kia (+4.3%) is a lot more muted but climbs two spots on June to #2. Toyota (+64.9%) fares even better year-on-year but at 10.8% share, it is below its YTD level of 11.5%. Hyundai (+3.6%) only edges up at #4 just as Volkswagen is stable at #5. Below, Ford (+311.8%), Renault (+150%), Audi (+137.8%) and BMW (+86.2%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+34.4%) cements its domination with a 5th consecutive monthly win at 4.8% share. It distances the Kia Ceed (+27.2%) up one spot on June and the Hyundai i30 (+2.5%) up one to #3. Leader a year ago, the Kia Sportage (-17.7%) falls to 4th place ahead of four Sodas: the Kamiq (+75.9%), Fabia (+6.1%), Scala (+179.5%) and Karoq (+0.5%). The Hyundai Tucson (-27.4%) freefalls at #9 while the Toyota RAV4 (+22.1%) can’t quite match the market growth and rounds out the Top 10. Below, the Ssangyong Korando is up 1046.2% to #12.
