Denmark July 2023: Peugeot 208 and Tesla Model Y top market up 14.4%

The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling vehicle in Denmark in July.

New car sales in Denmark rally back up 14.4% year-on-year in July to 11,239, still a very weak result given July 2022 was off a ghastly -38% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume is now up 14.7% to 95,563. Volkswagen (-14.2%) is back to #1 despite going against the market with a year-on-year drop, while Audi (+93.7%) and Peugeot (+84.7%) both fare splendidly to round out the podium. Skoda (+12%) can’t keep up with the market growth just as Tesla (+792.5%) posts another surreal gain as it has now cancelled its backloaded quarters. Tesla still ranks #1 year-to-date with 11.8% of the market vs. 10.3% for the #2 Volkswagen. Cupra (+213.4%) scores a second consecutive month in the Top 10 (and ever) at #10 and Citroen (+45.9%) also impresses at #7.

Over in the models ranking, the Peugeot 208 (+226.7%) signs its first win since last January but stays a distant #2 year-to-date at 3.4% share. The Tesla Model Y (+544.9%) drops to #2 and easily holds onto the YTD top spot with 9.7% of the market (+757.8%). The Citroen C3 (+140.1%) is up 20 spots on June to #3 ahead of the Skoda Enyaq (+44.8%) and Cupra Formentor (+633.3%). In fact, strikingly the entire Top 10 vastly outpaces the market, with the Tesla Model 3 (+8366.7%!) the most dynamic of the rest above the Audi Q2 (+263.2%), Audi Q4 (+169.3%), Ford Kuga (+68.5%) and VW T-Roc (+22.9%). Meanwhile the Polestar 2 (+474.2%) is up 16 ranks on last month to #12.
