Taiwan June 2023: Honda CR-V takes the lead
The Honda CR-V manages what is believed to be its first monthly win.
42,380 new vehicles hit Taiwanese roads in June, a fantastic 29.9% improvement on a year ago. The year-to-date volume is now up 15.6% to 234,857. Toyota (+3.8%) easily keeps the lead of the brands charts despite trailing the market by a significant margin. It achieves 22.1% share vs. 25.5% over H1 Lexus (+154.1%) continues to align outstanding scores at 7.1% share, with Honda (+38.6%), Mercedes (+43.1%) and Tesla (+283.9%) in tow and all performing very well. Hyundai (+123.5%) and Volkswagen (+85.5%) also impress below.
Over in the models aisle, the Honda CR-V (+196.6%) is the overall best-seller for what is believed to be the first time with a commanding 7.8% share, distancing the traditional leader, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-19.1%) in a bad way. The CR-V accesses to the 2nd spot year-to-date as a result, overtaking the Toyota Town Ace. The Toyota RAV4 (+81.7%) rallies back up to #3 but is stuck in 6th place year-to-date vs. #2 over the Full Year 2022. Excellent showings for the Lexus NX (+112.9%) and Toyota Yaris (+46.4%) post satisfying scores, the Tesla Model Y is up to #8 and the MG HS breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #10.
