Romania May 2023: Sales up 33.8%, Dacia places four models in Top 5
The Dacia Logan remains the best-selling vehicle in Romania.
13,641 new cars found a buyer in Romania in May, that’s a splendid 33.8% year-on-year improvement on a May 2022 score which was already up 24% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume now stands at 60,472 units, up 26.9% over the same period in 2022. Dacia (+41.4%) outruns its home market to 31% share, with Toyota (+10.2%) back up four spots on April to #2, a spot it held over the Full Year 2022. Volkswagen (+72.2%) is up one rank to #3 ahead of Skoda (+34%) and Renault (+61.9%). Suzuki (+175.8%), BMW (+70.9%) and Mercedes (+35.6%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Tesla (+785.7%), Porsche (+118.2%), Volvo (+101.6%), Cupra (+92.3%) and Audi (+50.2%) are among the best performers.
Over in the models lane, we have five Dacias in the Top 6 vs. 5 in the Top 5 year-to-date. The Logan (+5.6%) keeps the lead but with a relatively weak 9.7% share. It is followed by the Duster (+99.6%), Sandero (+93.3%) and Spring (+70.8%) all way past the market growth. The Skoda Octavia (+287.7%) is the best of the rest at #5, distancing the Dacia Jogger (+83.3%) and the Toyota Corolla (+8.8%). The Renault Captur (+127.9%) and Ford Kuga (+93.7%) also make themselves noticed below.
