Romania March 2023: 5 Dacias in year-to-date Top 5, market up 11.1%
The Dacia Jogger completes a Top 5 entirely composed of Dacia models.
The Romanian new car market is up 11.1% year-on-year in March to 12,251 sales. This means the Q1 volume is up 27.6% to 36,966. Local powerhouse Dacia (+70.3%) advances much faster than its home market to 34.7% share. It distances sister brand Renault (+37.8%) also well above the market growth. Hyundai (+5.1%) overtakes Skoda (+5%), both brands a little shy. Toyota (-18.5%) for its parts sinks at #5, but not as much as Ford (-55.8%). BMW (+62%), Mercedes (+41.3%) and Suzuki (+18.9%) also impress.
The Dacia Logan (+93%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to hold the top spot for the third consecutive month with 9.7% of the market, cementing its year-to-date domination at 11.2% share. The Logan however used to be head and shoulders above all other nameplates at home, this is not the case anymore. The Dacia Sandero (+148.7%) shoots up even more significantly in 2nd place ahead of the Duster (+42.9%), Spring (-21.2%) and Jogger (+407.3%). For the fourth time in history after last June, last November and last month, the Top 5 is entirely composed of Dacia nameplates. The novelty this month is that the year-to-date Top 5 is also 100% Dacia. The Renault Clio (+59.5%) is the best of the rest ahead of the Skoda Octavia (+18%) and Hyundai Tucson (-10.7%).
