Iceland March 2023: Tesla Model Y at 19.8% share, registrations surge 26.3%
Tesla sales are up 84.6% year-on-year in March.
The Icelandic new car market soars 26.3% year-on-year in March to 1,833 registrations. This means the Q1 2023 volume is up 8.7% to 3,498. Tesla (+84.6%) easily takes the lead of the brands ranking with 24.2% share, and also becomes #1 year-to-date with 17.7% of the market. Toyota (+25.3%) matches the market to stay at #2 in both March and YTD. Kia (+59%) also shines at #3 but Dacia (+443.3%) is the most impressive at #4. Renault (+1275%), Mazda (+475%) and Volkswagen (+300%) also post surreal gains and are the only remaining Top 10 member to beat the market.
It’s yet another win in Europe for the Tesla Model Y at an ultra dominant 19.8% share. It also ranks #1 over Q1 at 15.1% share. The Dacia Duster (7.5%) repeats at #2 and is the only additional model to sell over 100 units this month. The Toyota RAV4 at #3 makes the podium 100% SUV. The Tesla Model 3 lurches back up to #4 and now ranks #8 year-to-date vs. #19 over the Full Year 2022. The Toyota Yaris is up 11 spots on February to round out the Top 5. Excellent showings by the Renault Zoe (#8), Opel Corsa (#9) and Kia Picanto (#10) just as the Dacia Jogger makes its entrance inside the Icelandic Top 20 at #12.
