Bulgaria March 2023: Hyundai i20 takes the lead, sales up 11.2%

The Hyundai i20 is the best-selling vehicle in Bulgaria in March.

3,432 new light vehicles found a buyer in Bulgaria in March, a solid 11.2% year-on-year improvement coming on the back of a 14.6% lift in March 2022 over the previous year. The Q1 2023 volume is up 15.6% to 9,016. Toyota (-11%) holds onto the brands top spot despite a hefty loss. It is followed this month by Hyundai (+199.2%) tripling its year-ago volume. Skoda (+85.4%) is also in excellent shape at #3 ahead of Volkswagen (+33%) at #4. Ford (+34.9%) is also well above the market growth rate at #5. Opel (+141.9%) and Citroen (+53.7%) beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. In contrast, Peugeot (-45.4%) and Kia (-25.7%) take a dive as does Dacia (-21.6%) at #12.

In a very volatile models ranking, the Hyundai i20 (+3500!) takes the lead with 4.2% share but can only muster a 10th spot year-to-date. The Citroen C3 (+69%) is up five ranks on February to #2 while last month’s leader the Toyota C-HR (-14.1%) rounds out the podium. The Hyundai Tucson (+208.6%) also sees its sales skyrocketing to #4 with the Toyota Corolla (-45.5%) in freefall at #5. The Opel Crossland (+2750%!) and Skoda Octavia (+663.6%) also post surreal gains among remaining Top 10 members. Still #1 year-to-date thanks to a fantastic month of January when it held a 12.1% share, the Dacia Sandero (-72.4%) crumbles to #62.
