United Arab Emirates Full Year 2022: Toyota Hilux takes the lead in market up 13.3%

218,057 new vehicles hit UAE roads in 2022, a strong 13.3% year-on-year increase. Brand leader Toyota (+13.4%) follows the market to a stable 30.8% share, that’s more than double 2nd-placed Nissan (-6.4%) in a rut. Mitsubishi (+10.6%) can’t quite catch up on the market growth rate but easily manages to stay #3. Hyundai (+37.8%) overtakes sister brand Kia (-1.8%) to end the year in 4th place. Chevrolet (+50.6%) also shines at #6 with MG (+87.1%) leaping up from #14 in 2021 to #8 this year and Mazda (+30.5%) up from #13 to #10. Below, Land Rover (+39.8%), Isuzu (+134.4%) and Changan (+65.1%) make themselves noticed.

Model-wise, the podium is reshuffled, with the Toyota HIlux (+29.4%) up two spots on 2021 to lead the way, the Nissan Patrol (-6.2%) at #2 and the Nissan Sunny (+11.3%) up one to #3. Leader last year, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-40.1%) freefalls and is down three ranks to #4. The Toyota Camry (+49.8%) and Mitsubishi Montero Sport (+110%) both sport fantastic gains as does the Toyota Hiace (+37.9%) at #7 and the Mitsubishi L200 (+24.2%) at #9. Further down, the Toyota Rush (+61%), Corolla (+28.1%) and Fortuner (+27.8%) all shine.
