New Caledonia (France) January 2023: Suzuki (+213.3%) swims upstream in market off -14.3%

New car sales in New Caledonia, a French archipelago located north east of Australia, drop -14.3% year-on-year in January to just 510 units. Toyota (-21.6%) falls faster than the market but easily remains on top of the brands charts with 21.4% share. Suzuki (+213.3%) is up 3-fold on a year ago and repeats at #2 ahead of Peugeot (-15.6%) up 10 spots on December to #3. Hyundai (+71.4%) also posts a stellar result at #4 with 7.1% of the market with Renault (-17.5%) rounding out the Top 5. Subaru (+33.3%) also shines in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Kia (-57.9%) and Citroen (-50%) both sink.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-39.3%) retains the top spot with 6.7% share vs. 8.5% over the Full Year 2022, it is followed by the Toyota Raize (-25%) up eight ranks on last month to #2. The Hyundai Tucson (+340%) brilliantly closes the podium ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (-19.2%), Suzuki Ignis (+375%) and Swift (+171.4%). The Ford Ranger (+50%), Subaru XV (+33.3%) and Isuzu D-Max (+27.3%) also impress among the 10 best-selling models.
