Taiwan November 2022: Volkswagen (+53.9%), Lexus (+44.1%), Mazda (+39.4%) impress

Volkswagen sales are up 53.9% year-on-year in November.

39,670 new light vehicles hit Taiwanese roads in November, a -1.1% year-on-year drop. The year-to-date volume is now down -5.3% to 387,877. Toyota (-10.2%) underperforms at 28.3% share vs. 29.4% so far this year but Mercedes (+38.4%) signs an excellent month to remain in 2nd place overall vs. #4 YTD. Honda (-20.5%) skids but stays at #3 ahead of Mitsubishi (+6.5%) braving the negative context. Below, Nissan (-13.7%) and Ford (-35.7%) both struggle mightily whereas Lexus (+44.1%), Volkswagen (+53.9%) and Mazda (+39.4%) all shine.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Corolla Cross (-2.8%) sells 2.7 times any other model at just under 10% share vs. 9.4% year-to-date. Strikingly, the next 6 models all fall heavily. At #2, the Toyota RAV4 (-43.7%) implodes. It distances the Honda CR-V (-20.9%), Toyota Corolla Altis (-21.7%), CMC Veryca (-18.5%), Nissan Kicks (-12.4%) in a Top 6 unchanged on last month, and the Ford Focus (-26.7%). The new Toyota Town Ace ranks #8 above the Toyota Yaris (-20.2%) also in a difficult position. The Lexus NX (+168.8%) closes out the Top 10 in euphoric fashion.
