China imports November 2022: Porsche (+33.9%) places Cayenne and Macan on podium, sales down -12.5%
The Porsche Cayenne is the #2 import in China in November.
Sales of imported cars in China skid -12.5% year-on-year in November to 55,780 units, a poor result given November 2021 was already down -35.3% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally now stands at 691,883 sales, down -19.3% or over 165,000 units on the same period in 2021. Lexus (+1.2%) edges up to hold onto the top spot with more than 12,500 sales, distancing Mercedes (-5.7%) like last month and YTD. Porsche (+33.9%) shoots up to overtake BMW (-35.5%) for the third place. Audi (-47.1%) implodes but ranks #5 as it does year-to-date. Land Rover (-23.7%) is also in a bad way at #6 whereas Mini (+31%) is the last gainer in the Top 10. Toyota (-4.6%) resists somewhat but Volvo (-32.6%) and Volkswagen (-21.1%) crater.
Over in the models charts, the Lexus ES (+7.1%) is an easy leader with almost 4,000 units more than any other import. The Porsche Cayenne (+76.8%) posts a splendid gain to land in 2nd place for the 2nd time in the past year after last December. The Porsche Macan (+25.1%) is also in great shape and makes it two Porsches on the November podium for what is believed to be the first time. The Mercedes GLE (-43.6%) and Lexus RX (-43.3%) are relegated to #4 and #6 respectively. The Toyota Alphard (+28.8%) also shines and is up 9 ranks on last month to #5. Confirming it is an exceptional month for Porsche, the Panamera is up 5 spots on October to #7, distancing the Mercedes S Class (+39%), BMW 4 Series (+30.7%) and Lexus NX (+1100%) all in great shape.
