Austria November 2022: VW ID.4 signs first ever win, sales edging up 3.8%
The VW ID.4 is the most popular vehicle in Austria in November.
New car sales in Austria edge up 3.8% year-on-year in November to 18,178 units, which is still a rather poor result taking into account the fact that November 2021 was down -12.6% on the year prior. Through November, the market is off -11.1% to 197,448. Volkswagen (+43.3%) compensates for a particularly low year-ago volume (when it lost the top spot to Skoda) and easily leads the brands ranking with 15.5% share. BMW (+17.4%) is also very solid and gains one spot on last month to #2 whereas Skoda (-38%) implodes to #3. Toyota (+77%) scores the largest year-on-year uptick in the Top 10 and climbs six ranks on October to #4. It distances Seat (-1.6%) and Hyundai (-25%) both disappointing. In fact Ford (+30.5%) and Audi (+0.2%) are only remaining Top 10 carmakers in positive. Below, notice MG (+194.5%), Peugeot (+35.4%), Citroen (+26.5%) and Opel (+20.4%) all sporting fantastic lifts.
Over in the models ranking, the VW ID.4 (+251.7%) manages its first ever win in Austria with 3.5% share vs. 1.3% and #12 year-to-date. The Toyota Yaris/Cross (+254%) follows ahead of the VW Golf (+243.1%). In fact the Top 8 models all vastly outpace the market with double-digit gains at least. The Tesla Model Y (+41.9%) rallies back up to #4 but remains #2 year-to-date below the Skoda Octavia (-74.2%) completely imploding this month at #9. The Skoda Fabia (+76%), VW Tiguan (+276.1%), BMW 3 Series (160.8%) and 5 Series (+111.2%) all excel below. Notice also the Ford Focus (+110.1%), Seat Ateca (+92.9%) and VW ID.3 (+45.5%) making waves further down the charts.
