Uruguay October 2022: Suzuki best-seller, BYD inside Top 10 for first time in 6 years

Suzuki is the most popular carmaker in Uruguay in October.

4,701 new cars found a buyer in Uruguay in October, a strong 20.4% year-on-year uptick. The year-to-date tally is now up 3.8% to 42,829 units. Suzuki (+56.9%) surges to reclaim the brands top spot for the 2nd time in the past 3 months but still ranks at a lowly 6th place year-to-date. Chevrolet (+5.1%) trails the market by a large margin, up one spot on September to #2. Leader last month, Volkswagen (-6.3%) is in trouble year-on-year and drops to #3 in October. Renault (+4.7%) remains in 4th place above Fiat (+1055.6%) catching up on a paltry year-ago volume. In the remainder of the Top 10, BYD (+335.9%) quadruples its sales year-on-year to break into the Top 10 for the first time since June 2016 at #9. Citroen (+77.8%) and Peugeot (+33.9%) also shine whereas Hyundai (+7.8%) and Toyota (+7.7%) lag behind.
