United Arab Emirates 9 months 2022: Mitsubishi (+36.1%), MG (+95.6%) highlight stable market (+0.4%)

The Mitsubishi Montero Sport is up to 4th place in the UAE in 2022 YTD.

The UAE new car market edges up 0.4% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2022 to 141,242 units. Toyota (-2.5%) recedes slightly to 31.3% share, more than double the #2 Mitsubishi (+36.1%) in excellent shape. Nissan (-21.7%) falls one spot to #3 with Hyundai (+29.2%) and Suzuki (+10.4%) beating the market to round out the Top 5. MG (+95.6%) is up five spots on its Full Year 2021 ranking to crack the Top 10 at #9 while Chevrolet (+22.3%) also shines at #7. Kia (-18.8%), Lexus (-14.7%) and GMC (-6.1%) underperform in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Haval (+105.9%), Genesis (+82.1%), Isuzu (+67.4%), Ram (+39%) and Changan (+36.7%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+6.5%) holds the top spot above the Nissan Sunny (-6.8%) while the Nissan Patrol (-31.7%) drops one rank on its FY2021 position to #3. The Mitsubishi Montero Sport (+251.4%) is up 9 spots to #4 ahead of last year’s leader, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-52.1%) in complete freefall. The Toyota Camry (+45.6%) and Mitsubishi L200 (+56%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 with the Toyota Hiace (+17.1%) beating the market at #8 but the Mitsubishi Attrage (-15.7%) in trouble. The Chevrolet Groove (#29) is the most popular recent launch in the market ahead of the MG GT (#49) and Toyota Raize (#68).
