Iceland October 2022: Dacia Duster leads, Polestar 2 #5, 16 SUVs in Top 17
The Polestar 2 is up to 5th place in Iceland in October.
1,178 new cars hit Icelandic roads in October, a 12.7% year-on-year improvement. The year-to-date tally is now up 31.3% to 17,190 units. The Top 3 brands all vastly better the market: Kia (+51.1%) is up to 11.5% share, Toyota (+62.9%) follows while Dacia (+250%) closes the podium in spectacular fashion. In contrast Hyundai (-45.9%), Mercedes (+4.5%) and Volkswagen (-9.3%) can’t match the market growth. The rest of the Top 10 increase faster than the overall sales with MG (+226.3%) the most dynamic above Audi (+96%), Ford (+66.7%) and Mitsubishi (+31.9%). At #11, Polestar outstages sister brand Volvo (#12) by just one unit.
In the models ranking, the Dacia Duster climbs back up to the top of the charts for the 4th time in the past 5 months with 7.6% share but remains #2 year-to-date. The YTD leader is the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, back up 13 spots on September to #4 this month. In fact, the entire Top 8 and 16 of the Top 17 models for the month are SUVs! The Kia Sportage is up six ranks to #2, the Toyota Prado up two to #3 and the Polestar 2 reappears in the ranking directly at #5. The Kia Niro and MG ZS follow as the Audi e-Tron (#8 vs. #29 YTD), Ford Kuga (#10 vs. #51), Ford Puma (#12 vs. #88) and BMW X5 (#16 vs. #46) are among models evolving way higher than their YTD levels.
