Czech Republic October 2022: Skoda (+51.6%) beats home market up 28.5%
Skoda Karoq sales are up 128.8% year-on-year in October.
16,283 new light vehicles found a home in the Czech Republic in October, a 28.5% year-on-year surge. The year-to-date volume is now down -8.2% to 160,126 sales. Homegrown behemoth Skoda (+51.6%) vastly outrace its home market to a strong 35% share. It is followed by a very shy Hyundai (+9%) and a very dynamic Volkswagen (+66.3%). Toyota (+28.2%) matches the market at #4 while Kia (+2.2%) and Mercedes (+24.3%) underperform but ensure the Top 6 brands are unchanged on last month. Dacia (+69.1%) scores the largest year-on-year agin in the Top 10 but can only muster 3.4% share vs. 4.8% so far this year. Below and in order of sales, Audi (+90.8%), Suzuki (+52.7%), Cupra (+441.2%), Lexus (+119.6%), Land Rover (+112.5%) and DS (+133.3%) all shine.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+158.2%) continues to evolve at markedly higher levels than a year ago and cements its YTD pole position with 9.9% for the month and 7.5% so far this year. The Skoda Fabia (+14.4%) remains in 2nd place but drops -22% YTD. The Skoda Karoq (+128.8%) is up two spots on last month to land on the third step of the podium, distancing the Hyundai i30 (+39%) at #4 again. The Kamiq (+80.3%), Kodiaq (+118.8%) and Superb (+90%) all rise spectacularly and make it 6 Skodas in the Top 7. Below a struggling Hyundai Tucson (-17.5%), the Dacia Duster (+187.9%) and VW Golf (+33.5%) round out the Top 10 in splendid fashion.
