Turkey September 2022: Toyota (+59.5%), Ford (+56.6%) impress, market up a shy 8.6% on low year-ago basis
Toyota lodges the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10.
The Turkish new car market displays a 8.6% year-on-year gain in September to 62,084 sales, however these remain very low levels as September 2021 was diving -36.9% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume is now off -7% to 520,530 units. Fiat (+25.6%) outruns the market to a splendid 20.9% share vs. 18.6% so far this year. In second place, Ford (+56.6%) does even better and climbs two spots on August to #2 overall. Renault (+5.3%) trails the market but remains in third place, distancing Volkswagen (+17.4%) while Toyota (+59.5%) simply scores the largest gain in the Top 10 and ends the month in 5th place. Hyundai (-28.6%), Dacia (-21.5%) and Peugeot (-21.2%) are all hit hard. Just outside the Top 10, Mercedes (+78%) and Kia (+125.9%) impress. Cupra (+1534.4%) overtakes sister brand Seat (-74%) for the first time at #17 vs. #22, in a trend that is close to generalising everywhere Cupra is on sale.
Previous month: Turkey August 2022: Opel (+81.5%), Kia (+54%) can’t prevent market loss (-19.6%)
One year ago: Turkey September 2021: Hyundai (+61.7%), Honda (+51.3%) ignore market down -36.9%
