Greece September 2022: Peugeot 3008 up to record 9.6% share, market soaring 30.2%

The Peugeot 3008 is by far the best-selling vehicle in Greece in September.

The Greek new car market scores a second consecutive month of stellar gains in September at +30.2% to 8,606 registrations. As a result, the year-to-date tally tilts into positive at +1.4% and 82,936 units. Peugeot (+81.3%) manages its first monthly win since May 2021 and hits a record market share at 14.5%. Toyota (+19.1%) is knocked down to #2 with 10.2% of the market vs. 14.5% so far this year. Renault (+246.7%), Fiat (+198.6%) and Ford (+130.9%) all post surreal gains in the remainder of the Top 10 with Suzuki (+43%) also beating the market. All remaining brands are in negative, with Opel (-20%) hit the hardest. Below, notice Dacia (+225%), Mercedes (+157.5%), Mini (+71.9%) and Mazda (+64%) all performing extremely well.

Model-wise, we have a big surprise on top: the Peugeot 3008 (+574.8%) is up 7-fold year-on-year to an extraordinary 9.6% market share. This may have been made possible by a large fleet order as this model performs well in that channel. This is the highest share hit by any model in Greece since the Toyota Yaris owned 10.4% of the market back in November 2018. As a result, the 3008 leaps from #15 to #6 in the year-to-date order. In fact the entire September Top 6 deliver three-digit year-on-year gains. The Toyota Yaris is up 131.2% to #2, the Fiat Panda up 460% and 19 spots on last month to #3, the Suzuki Vitara up 223.8% and 7 ranks to #4, the Ford Puma (+151.2%) up two to #5 and the Renault Clio (+100%) up 40 to #6.
