Belgium September 2022: Skoda (+82%), Dacia (+67.8%) highlight market up 16.8%
Skoda is up to #9 brand vs. #14 year-to-date.
Belgian new car sales rebound back up 16.8% year-on-year in September to 31,025 units, but once again this is compared to a particularly weak year-ago basis with September 2021 down -24.6% on 2020. The year-to-date tally is now -9.3% to 284,490. To gauge this level, keep in mind sales over 9 months of 2021 were down -6% on 2020 and 9 months 2020 was down -24% on 2019… Volkswagen (+22%) manages a second consecutive month atop the brands charts. The last time this happened was over two years ago in June-July 2020. Mercedes (+58.7%) does even better and climbs one spot on last month to #2 and 9.3% share vs. 8.1% so far this year. Easy leader YTD, BMW (+3.8%) trails the market in third place for the month. Skoda (+82%), Dacia (+67.8%), Peugeot (+51.5%) and Toyota (+35.2%) score the largest gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, notice Cupra (+621.4%) only six sales below Seat (-25.4%), Volvo (+60.6%), Tesla (+30.7%), DS (+30.7%) and Lynk & Co (+28.3%) all impressive.
