Iceland August 2022: Dacia Duster 3peats at #1, sales up 5.4%

The Dacia Duster is once again the best-selling vehicle in Iceland in August.

New car sales in Iceland rise 5.4% year-on-year in August to 1,330 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up a whopping 36.8% to 14,568 registrations. Toyota (+53.9%) is up to 16.3% share to lead the brands ranking for 30 units above Kia (+13.3%) now also #2 year-to-date. Dacia (+12400%) goes from 1 sale in August 2021 to 125 and 9.4% share this month, meaning it ranks #5 year-to-date with 5.5% share of the Icelandic market. MG (+300%) is up to 3.3% share vs. 1.2% year-to-date, with Ford (+121.7%), Skoda (+97.5%) and Mercedes (+40.4%) also beating the market in the remainder of the Top 10.

Over in the models ranking, the Dacia Duster 3peats at #1 with a very strong 9.3% share vs. 5.2% so far this year. It distances the Kia Sportage up 3 spots to #2 and the Toyota Corolla up from outside the July Top 20 directly into third place. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is down one rank to #4 while the Ford Kuga and MG ZS soar to #5 and #6 respectively. The Skoda Enyaq is up to #7, the Peugeot 2008 up to #9 and the Audi e-Tron up to #10. Still comfortable leader year-to-date, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross dives to #19 for the month.
