Belgium August 2022: Volkswagen #1 for first time in almost a year, market up 7%
Volkswagen sales are up 9% year-on-year in August.
The Belgium new car market gains 7% year-on-year in August to 28,917 registrations, keeping in mind August 2021 was down -25.7% on August 2020 which in turn was down -24.1% on 2019. The year-to-date volume is now down -12.7% to 250,465. Volkswagen (+9%) scores its first win in almost a year (since September 2021). It edges past BMW (-1.1%) however easily remaining #1 year-to-date with a 3,654-unit advantage over Volkswagen, Mercedes (+50.5%), Peugeot (+50.4%) and Toyota (+37.9%) all score fantastic upticks in the remainder of the Top 5. Dacia (+97.1%) manages the biggest improvement in the Top 20 and climbs to #7 with 5.3% share vs. #10 and 4.1% so far this year. Kia (+21.7%) also outpaces the market inside the Top 10. Below, notice DS (+114.9%), Land Rover (+32.1%) and Porsche (+20.5%) all in great shape.
