Uruguay July 2022: Chevrolet #1, Geely in Top 10 for first time in 6.5 years, sales up 7.3%
Geely manages to ranks inside the Top 10 with only two models: the GX3 and Coolray.
The Uruguayan new light vehicle market is up a healthy 7.3% year-on-year in July to 4,025 sales, a particularly good result given the fact July 2021 was already up 27.7% on the year prior. It tilts the year-to-date volume into positive territory at +0.2% to 29,271 units. Chevrolet (+322.2%) compensates for stock restricted year-ago volumes and sports a surreal year-on-year gain. The American brand reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date. Leader last month, Volkswagen (+7.5%) matches the market at #2 and goes from #5 year-to-date last month to #2 after 7 months. Renault (+7.8%) remains in third place above Hyundai (+39.1%) and Nissan (+25%) both very dynamic. #1 a year ago, Fiat (-64.2%) freefalls to #6 for the month at #5 YTD. The rest of the Top 10 brands all beat the market, with Geely (+121.4%) doing best and up 12 spots on June to crack the Top 10 for the first time since January 2016 at #10. Peugeot (+24.2%), Toyota (+13%) and Citroen (+16.8%) also impress while further down Jetour (+470%), JAC (+136%) and Jeep (+105%) stand out.
