United Arab Emirates June 2022: Mitsubishi up 133.4%, Toyota Hilux leads, Hyundai Sonata #4

The Hyundai Sonata roars into 4th place in June in the UAE.

New vehicle sales in the United Arab Emirates climb 16.1% year-on-year in June to 18,312 units. Toyota (+1%) is stable and holds just under 30% market share. In 2nd place, Mitsubishi soars 133.4% and overtakes a struggling Nissan (-14%). Hyundai (+197.4%) almost triples its sales year-on-year to rank #4 above sister brand Kia (+8.7%). MG (+58.7%) is up to a record 7th place with 2.6% of the market above Suzuki (stable), a euphoric Land Rover (+152.7%) and a weak Lexus (-14.9%). Below, notice Honda (+100%), Changan (+95.8%), Isuzu (+67.7%), Ram (+66.2%), GMC (+38.7%) and Haval (+788.9%) up to #22.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+15.6%) almost matches the market growth to lead the charts with 6.3% share. It is followed by two Mitsubishis: then Attrage (+161.4%) and Montero Sport (+391.9%). But the hero of the month is the Hyundai Sonata up from 2 units in June 2021 to 850 this month… The Mitsubishi Pajero (+136.7%) and Toyota Camry (+134.1%) also vastly outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas the Nissan Patrol (-8.4%), Sunny (-0.1%) and Toyota Hiace (+4.1%) disappoint. Just outside the Top 10, the Range Rover (+587%) and Toyota Corolla (+88.3%) impress. The Chevrolet Groove (#22) aka Baojun 510 is the best-selling recent launch in the country, distancing the MG GT (#47), Kia Sonet (#68) and Haval Jolion (#97).
