Qatar June 2022: Suzuki (+716.2%) posts surreal gain in market shooting up 58.6%
The Suzuki Swift Dzire is up to #3 in Qatar in June.
Going clearly against the worldwide trend, new vehicle sales in Qatar shoot up 58.6% year-on-year in June to 4,602 units. Yet the Top 2 carmakers vastly outpace this rate: Toyota is up 105.9% to 35.6% share while Suzuki is up 716.2% to 12.1% share. Nissan (+46.4%), Kia (+17.2%) and Mitsubishi (stable) are a lot more discreet, just as Honda (+202.2%), Isuzu (+91.5%) and Hyundai (+71.8%) shine. Chevrolet (+10%) and GMC (+21%) are up but weak. Below, Chinese fares Geely (+205.9%) and Changan (+160%) post the biggest gains in the remainder of the market. UD lands at #24 and Tata at #26.
Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+534.6%) cements its leadership at 14.3% share, vastly distancing the Toyota Hilux (-4.3%). The Suzuki Swift Dire is up an extravagant 2342.9% to land on the third step of the podium just as the next 5 models all at least triple their year-ago volumes: the Suzuki Ertiga (+1027.3%), Ciaz (+580%), Toyota Camry (+293.5%), Honda City (+237.5%) and Nissan Urvan (+194%) all soar. The Nissan Patrol (+45.8%) and Kia Picanto (+100%) close out the Top 10. The Chevrolet Groove is the best-selling newcomer at #38, followed by the Toyota Corolla Cross (#42) and Changan UNI-K (#62).
