The Kia Sorento is up to #7 this month.

New car sales in New Caledonia, a French overseas archipelago located northwest of Australia, drop a harsh -17.4% year-on-year in June to 678 units. Thanks to a great start of the year, the YTD tally is still up at +9.9% and 4,205 registrations. Toyota (+38.6%) goes against the market with a sizeable year-on-year gain to remain dominant at 18% share vs. 21% so far this year. But it’s Kia (+72.5%) that scores the largest uptick in the Top 20 and ranks #2 overall. Peugeot (-28%) and Citroen (-17.6%) suffer but the latter is up one spot YTD to #2. Renault (+5.1%) and Hyundai (-6.5%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10.

The Toyota Hilux (+37.2%) remains the most popular vehicle on the archipelago with 8.7% share, in line with the 9% it commands YTD. The Dacia Duster (-13%) stays in 2nd place, a ranking it holds YTD also. Excellent performance of the new Toyota Raize up 18 spots on May to #3, its second stint on the podium alongside last January (#2). The Kia K2700 (+36.8%) surges from outside the May Top 20 directly to 4th place, it is followed by the Ford Ranger (stable), Citroen Berlingo (-30.8%) and Kia Sorento (+142.9%) in outstanding shape.
