Pakistan May 2022: Suzuki Alto (+61.8%), Swift (+5525.8%) stand out in market up 45.8%
The new generation helps the Suzuki Swift up to #5 in May.
Sales of new locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan gain a whopping 45.8% year-on-year in May to 22,893 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 31% to 114,912. Suzuki (+47%) just outpaces the market to hold a 53.3% share, in line with its year-to-date level of 53.6%. Toyota (+25.8%) is in difficulty while Honda (+45.4%) matches the market. Hyundai (+168.4%) continues to spectacularly gear up to 7.5% share vs. 5.6% so far this year. Newcomer BAIC ranks 5th above JAC (+46.7%) and Isuzu (+26.7%). Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+61.8%) sports a very solid gain year-on-year but drops to 23.9% share vs. 27.3% YTD. The Toyota Corolla (+53.8%) is estimated to go back to the 2nd place it holds YTD, distancing the Suzuki Wagon R (+51.4%) and Toyota Yaris (-7.8%). The Suzuki Swift (+5525.8%) shows explosive growth thanks to the new generation. The Hyundai Tucson (+150.6%), Hyundai Elantra (+129.3%) and Toyota Fortuner (+128.6%) also impress below.
