Yemen March 2022: Toyota at 96.9% share, Hilux #1
The Toyota Hilux holds 43.4% share of the Yemeni market.
New car sales in Yemen edge down -2.6% year-on-year in March to 680 units. Toyota (+0.5%) is more dominant than ever, holding a suffocating 96.9% share vs. 93.9% last November which is our latest data point. Hyundai (+180%) is up to 2.1% of the market while Ford returns with 0.6%. Lexus (-83.3%) and Nissan (-66.7%) are the two additional carmakers selling in Yemen over the period. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-9.1%) is at 43.8% share above the Toyota Land Cruiser SW (-1.2%) at 25% and the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+23.8%) at 18.4%. All other nameplates hold 3.5% or less market share, starting with the Toyota Fortuner (-7.7%) ahead of the Toyota Prado (-26.3%) and Rush (+350%).
