Kazakhstan April 2022: Chevrolet (+13.3%) and Cobalt (+55.8%) reclaim lead in market off -8.5%
The Chevrolet Cobalt holds 22.9% of the Kazakh market in April.
9,212 new vehicles hit Kazakh roads in April, a -8.5% year-on-year decline. This leads to a year-to-date tally off -7.7% to 31,582. In the brands ranking, Chevrolet (+13.3%) easily reclaims the top spot for the first time since last November with a whopping 32.6% share vs. 18.7% so far this year. Hyundai (-21.7%) is knocked down to 2nd place with 19.6% of the market vs 27.5% YTD where it remains #1 for now. Kia (+27.2%) also posts a double digit gain but stays in third place with 10.5% share. Toyota (-23%) is up one spot on March to #5 while Lada (+98%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to #5. Chinese fare Golden Dragon (+400%), Lexus (+42.1%) and JAC (+28.7%) all post stellar gains while newcomer Chery is up one rank on last month to a record #9.
Model-wise, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+55.8%) shoots up to 22.9% share and reclaims the year-to-date top spot off the Hyundai Sonata (+251.4%) down four spots on March to #5 but soaring year-on-year. The Hyundai Elantra (+91%) is up eight ranks on last month to #2 while the Kia Sorento is up 20 to #3. The Chevrolet Nexia (-58.3%) implodes year-on-year but rallies back up 12 spots on March to #4. Similarly, the Toyota Camry (-21.7%) is in bad shape year-on-year but climbs 25 ranks on last month to #5. The Lada Granta (+765.8%) posts the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10.
