Uruguay February 2022: Chevrolet and Volkswagen top market down -6.1%

Chevrolet is the best-selling carmaker in Uruguay in January and February.

New light vehicle sales in Uruguay drop -6.1% year-on-year in February to 3,426 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -7.3% to 6,691. Chevrolet has a firm hold on the market with 16.8% share for the month, distancing Volkswagen (15.3%) and Renault (12.9%) up one spot on January. Hyundai (10.2%) is knocked down to #4 ahead of Suzuki and Nissan holding onto their January rankings. Toyota is up two spots to #7, Peugeot down one to #8 and Citroen up 3 to #9. Chery (#11) leads the Chinese charge above Jetour (#12), GWM (#14), Karry (#15), Geely (#16) and DFSK (#17). All-in-all, Chinese carmakers hold 10.8% of the Uruguayan market vs. 9.2% in January.
