Taiwan March 2022: Tesla Model 3 up to #3 in market down -8.7%
The Tesla Model 3 is up to a record third place in March in Taiwan.
New car sales in Taiwan drop -8.7% year-on-year in March to 39,442 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -14.2% to 104,344 sales. Toyota (-5.5%) falls a little slower than the market to 29.4% share, while Honda (+8.5%) defies the negative trend to get up to #2, a ranking it also holds year-to-date. Ford (+4.4%) is also up and gains three spots on last month to #3, however it only ranks #5 YTD vs. #2 over the Full Year 2021. Nissan (-24.8%) sinks year-on-year but is also up 3 ranks to #4 just as Lexus soars 24.3% to 5.5% share but is down three spots on last month to #5. CMC (-2.8%) and Mazda (-4.9%) resist, Mercedes (-37.5%) dives and Tesla is up one rank to #9.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross remains ultra-dominant with 8.8% share, it distances the Honda CR-V at a strong 5.5% and the Tesla Model 3 at 4.1%, up five spots on February to #3. The Toyota Corolla Altis (3.9%) remains in 4th place while the Toyota RAV4 (3.9% share also) is down three to #5. The Ford Focus (3.4%) is up two to #8 and the Ford Kuga (3.2%) up three to #10. Notice also the Mazda CX-5 back up 23 ranks to #19, the Porsche Macan surging from outside the February Top 60 to #23 and the Volvo XC40 up 25 spots to #25.
